Help us understand the issue.
Tell us what you expected, what happened, and the steps that led there. Include your Diakto version, macOS version, and Mac model if relevant. A small fictional example is ideal for reproducing a search problem.
Please review screenshots and logs before sharing them. They can include filenames, search terms, email addresses, or document text. Do not send passwords, verification codes, an entire index, or private client documents.
A few useful starting points.
A file is missing from search.
Check that its folder is selected in Settings → Folders and its format is enabled in File Types. Clear the search filters. If it is online-only, make the file available offline in Finder or your cloud provider, then use Scan Now. Click any indexing warning or failed-file count to see the details.
There are pages waiting for OCR.
Scanned PDFs need OCR before the words in their images can be searched. Results can appear before every page has finished. Background processing may pause in Low Power Mode or under thermal pressure. OCR adds text to the local search index; it does not rewrite your original PDF.
A drive disconnected or a folder moved.
Previously indexed text should remain searchable. Reconnect the drive to open originals. If access was lost after an app restart, use Settings → Folders → Change… to select the same folder again. If the folder moved, select its new location there. This keeps its existing search data.
How do I make a search more precise?
Use quotation marks for an exact phrase, such as “harbor lease” (type straight quotes in the search field). Use harbor NEAR/15 lease to find the words close together. Ordinary words also match prefixes as you type. The app’s Help guide explains Boolean operators, filters, and preview navigation.
Do I need Ollama or a Microsoft account?
No. Core document search works without either. Local search ranking and Microsoft mail indexing are optional. Microsoft connectivity is still undergoing release verification; availability and organization approval requirements can vary.
How do I remove my local data?
For a complete in-app reset, use Settings → Storage → Reset and recovery → Factory reset → Erase All…. Read the confirmation carefully. This removes Diakto’s local search data and connections while leaving original documents and remote mail intact. Exported backups and older app editions can retain separate copies. See the privacy policy’s storage and removal section.

Use support@diakto.com for access, correction, deletion, or other questions about information we hold. We cannot access your local document index remotely. Our privacy policy explains your controls and how website visits and support messages are handled.
